We won't have you unload after business hours. We would generally wait until the next morning unless you had a special request. To narrow down your delivery window to one day, you would need to order the entire moving van for your personal use. We generally have a small window of days where we will arrive. The delivery date is dependent on the other shipments that will be loading and unloading on the same moving truck (note, if you rent the whole truck you get a much tighter delivery time).
Movex is the only mover that does, in fact, have a guarantee in writing for missed-delivery compensation. If we miss your delivery window, we will reimburse up to $100 a day of living expenses (with receipts) up to a maximum of 10% of the cost of your move.
We are a well-scheduled, well-run company and very rarely is this an issue.

If you are taking the entire moving van, you can count on us being there in 2.5 days. If you are not taking the whole truck and we are going to put other customers on board, then it will take an extra couple of days for your goods to arrive. Again, Jackie can get more specific with you based on the shipment size and dispatch schedule.
We generally have the trucks arrive between 8 and 12 for you to load. If you have a smaller shipment, we may schedule an afternoon pickup since it only takes a couple of hours to load and we can pick up two smaller shipments in one day.

It will take us about 4 days to get from OK to FL. You can rent a storage facility in about 20 minutes in Fort Walton Beach. They have one on "every corner". We certainly would rather you move with us and not drive that rental truck!

The more that you move, the quicker it will get there. Because Movex fills the moving trucks, there could be 3 or 4 smaller shipments on the truck that load and unload in your route. We give a small delivery window and guarantee that the moving truck will deliver in that window. Because there is more than one customer on the truck (each has a private compartment), delivery dates could be affected by the loading and unloading of other shipments. That being said, the closer we get to your pickup, the more narrow your window becomes because our load planners will have finished planning the moving van's trip.
I would recommend calculating 550 miles of travel a day for the truck. So, for your shipment from Ohio to Florida you should load 2 days prior to your first available day for delivery.
If you need more space, you can add up to 4 feet of space to your shipment at the same rate per foot that you paid for the rest of your move (subject to availability). Since we plan for the space in advance, no refunds are issued for space ordered that is not used.

2) You can get up to 4 extra feet on loading day if it is available. This time of year, the trucks are generally running very full and don't have a lot of "wiggle" room. It is best to order a little bit too much space so that you are not pressed on loading day.

We will at first give you a delivery "window", a very short span of days in which the moving truck will arrive. As we move through the process together, your delivery will narrow as we see how quickly the truck is crossing the country and what other deliveries are loading and unloading along the way. The driver that picks up your shipment is the one the delivers it and you will be updated of his progress.
If you have underestimated the amount of space needed, you sometimes can buy addtional space on loading day (subject to availability). I recommend overestimating a bit. Having extra space will keep you from having to stack items to the ceiling or worry about having to leave things behind.

I read back about a month in the questions that you've answered, and they're very informative. Thank you. However, I was saddened to discover that you don't provide storage services. My potential move would involve having to sell our current home before we purchase the next one, which may take a few months, and I know there are others in your potential demographic that are in a similar position. Are there alternative arrangements that might be made through Movex that would be cost-effective? We would probably be using ~28 linear feet. You can hazard a guess of cost if you'd like. I promise I won't hold you to it. :-)
Anyway, I notice that your main "spring-ride" competitor does offer storage and was surprised that with the other advantages of Movex that storage isn't an included service. D,

My answer to your question would be another question. "Do you really want to leave all of your worldly possessions in the back of a freight van sitting unattended in a freight lot somewhere for months at a time?".
I personally would want my furniture off of a truck and in a nice mini-storage, preferrably an air-conditioned one.
We have a lot of options for slowing down the delivery process and accommodating customers needs. I think that the best bet for your situation is to move into a mini-storage until your new home is ready. Freight trucks get very hot, very cold, are prone to leaking, and are not really secure when left unattended overnight at a freight yard. That is the reason that we only provide direct shipments.

Movex can help you 7 days a week. Part of the advantage of our service is that we can be very specific with pickup days and load on one day of a weekend. Our competitors want to leave a freight truck sitting in front of your house from Friday to Monday... which is inconvenient and not secure.

Travel time to Massachusetts is 3 days. The arrival dates are guaranteed, but notice that I said dates, not date. Unless you are renting an entire moving truck, the delivery date of your shipment may be affected by the delivery of other shipments on the truck. There will be no more than a few days window in which your shipment would arrive. Your relocation specialist can help you determine when to expect your delivery.

Glad to have you back! Because of the nature of our service (direct shipments on moving vans), storage for that long is not really an option. We can generally help you for a few days here and there, but a month would be extremely cost prohibitive. I would suggest having us deliver to a mini storage. That will also give you greater flexibility in the event that you new home is not ready on time (which, unfortunately, is a common occurance that we deal with).

It is 2100 miles from Canoga Park to Gary. The moving trucks will travel, on average (still a lot of bad weather in the middle of the country) 500 miles per day. All of the moving trucks provided by Movex are equipped with furniture blankets, loading ramps, a dolly, and tie-down straps. Since you load and unload, it would be up to you to secure the piano, but you will have all of the equipment that you need to properly do it. It will take between 5 and 7 days for a cross country trip.

Our drivers can travel about 500 miles a day. Depending on the size of your shipment, we can have it there in as little as 3 days, but it may take as many as 6 (if we have other shipments to pick up on the way).

Is there a regualtion as to the number of miles, or hours a driver can do in 1 day? Lindsay,
Yes there is. The DOT regulates commercial drivers by the number of hours that they can drive in a day. The rules are a little complicated, but the basic gist is that they can only drive for 10 hours a day (which is a LOT of driving).

On average, our trucks travel 500 miles per day. Depending on how big your shipment is, it will take between 5 and 9 days (if you shipment is small, it will go on the truck with other shipments, if large or the whole truck, it will arrive much closer to 5 days because the truck won't need to stop to pick anyone else's stuff up).
