Storage Questions

from judy W. in NY - June 26, 2009
do you have storage facilities. we will have to store our belongings for approx. 2 months.

Judy,

We can deliver you to a storage facility, but we do not actually have storage facilities. We recommend delivering to a storage facility. Some companies offer you storage on the truck, but we advise against this. In the summertime, leaving your furniture on a truck for a month is the equivalent of cooking it in an oven.

Movex

from Lisa Y. in ME - June 18, 2009
The items I wish to move are currently in a storage facility. Your information states that you will move from residence to residence, but will you move from a storage facilty in NJ to a residence in ME?

Lisa,

Yes we will. Most storage facilities have room for moving vans to park. Make sure that you let your facility manager know that you are leaving so they can reserve a parking place for us.

Movex

from MAr L. in CA - June 16, 2009
Do you provide a storage service as well? Our home will not close in time for us to make one move straight to the home, so will need a company that can store for a couple of weeks.

Mar,

While it is possible to delay your shipment by a couple of days, we do not have the ablity to hold your shipment for long periods of time. We suggest renting a storage facility at destination and delivering your furniture there. With the summer heat, it is not a good idea to leave your stuff in a truck baking at 100 degrees for weeks at a time.

Movex

from howie L. in TX - April 15, 2009
I'm planning on a move from my apartment building to a storage unit. Are you able to drop off the shipment in front of my storage unit for a few days until I drive there?

Howie,

We can delay your shipment a little, but several days can turn into a challenge as we utilize the moving trucks on a daily basis and have other customers on board. So we cannot leave a truck anywhere for several days, but can work with the delivery schedules to make your move work for both of us.

Movex

from Jared W. in UT - April 13, 2009
What if I don't know the exact address of where I'm going? I would need it to be delivered to a storage unit until I find permanent housing. Is storage available through Movex?

Jared,

We do not provide extended storage. When you call in and speak to your moving rep, they can help you with timing issues and delayed delivery options based on your specific needs.

Movex

from Chunhua M. in FL - March 24, 2009
Can I choose the date that my staff will be delivered? In other words, can you store my staff for a couple of days at the destination?

There are some limitations to our flexibility on this type of request. We do not offer any long term storage, but extended deliveries are a possibility in some areas.

I am a student at Auburn University, and intend to take some summer courses from May 17 to August 8. Dorms close during the summer, and I need a place for storing belongings while I'm gone. Is it possible to arrange for pod(s) a few days in advance, load and store it before requesting arrival on campus before my return?

Fred,

You would need to call a local storage company near Auburn for this. We offer a long-distance moving option, but not a local storage option.

Movex

from Marshall T. in CA - February 21, 2009
WE are going to move but have not decide where we will live. WE need to vacate our property by the end of the month and we thought we would store our household goods until we have a permanent address. Do you have storage facilities that you could transfer our household goods and than deliver later when we have the address.

Marshall,

We have some limited storage capabilities. Please call our office at 800-876-6839 and a relocation specialist can give you more details.

Movex

from Gordon E. in TX - December 30, 2008
Do you have only long trailers for moving or do you also have something on the order of Pods? Also, do you have storage? We do not know yet what our moving date will be but have many boxes that could be put in storage until that time. Thanks

Gordon,

Yes, we only have long moving van-type trailers. I would recommend putting your stuff into a mini-storage and then having us do an extra pickup for you on your loading day. The extra pickup is only $95. That would be the cheapest and safest way to deal with your situation.

Movex

from Sara C. in NE - December 25, 2008
We are planning a move late this Spring. Do you offer any type of a storage situation? We need to unload some of the furniture and boxes from our current house until it sells. Then add the rest and move to the new home. Do you offer any pod type containers in which items could be stored?

Sara,

Movex is the MOST economical way to move across country... that being said, we do not offer any long-term storage. The cheapest and safest way to handle your situation is to get a unit in a mini-storage facility (most do not have long-term contracts) and then have us make an extra pickup at the facility on your loading day.

from Kendyll B. in IL - September 9, 2008
Hello, we are moving in about 10 days and I requested a quote from IL to FL. We do not have a place to live there yet and will be staying in a hotel for a few days. We plan to have something within a week of getting there. Can our stuff be stored on the trailer or facility until we find our place. It will be in the Winter Garden/orlando area. Thanks

Kendyll,

You need to call in to 800-876-6839 and speak to Jeff Voth in our Exact Express department. That division costs a little more, but can give you a guaranteed delivery date with up to two weeks of free storage.

Movex

from Steve A. in WA - August 2, 2008
I wish to have my vehicle and goods shipped from Seattle, WA to Killeen, TX.
After my household goods and vehicle are picked up I plan to vist family for a week, then travel to Killeen to do some house hunting for a week. That means that there could be up to a 3 week gap between the time the goods are picked up in Seattle and when I would need them to arrive in Killeen since we won't have anywhere to put them until we get a lease.
Can this be done and are there any additional cost associated with having the goods held until we secure a lease ?

Steve,

We can help you with storage on the furniture part, but not the car. Shipping a car with your furniture requires our Premier Moving Van service and long term storage would not be available for furniture and your car. We can provide up to two weeks delay at no charge using our Exact Express Freight Service for the furniture portion. After two weeks, your charges will run about $85 a day, so you don't want to let that timer run too long!

Hope this helps. For further clarification, one of our relocation specialists would be happy to explain all of this in detail.

from John H. in NC - July 15, 2008
Move from Burney, CA to Garner, NC we are planning to drive but may not get there before the moving van. Can we arrange to meet the van when we get there. Do store the van for a couple of days and does it cost any more. Take this example the van leaves late Aug-22-08 and we are not there until Aug-31-08.

John,

We have several different options that are too numerous to go into in this forum. I would recommend calling our offices at 800-876-6839. We could work out deliveries for you and other storage options.

from mandy O. in CA - June 28, 2008
I am moving from Long Beach, California to Las Vegas, Nevada. I have to be out of my apartment on June 30th, but my new house does not close until July 14th. How much would it cost to move my things to Las Vegas and keep it stored until the 14th? I only have 8 boxes of a maximum 50 pounds each, a couch, a small patio table with 2 chairs, and a bed frame with a light weight memory foam mattress.

Mandy,

You are too late. We should have set up your move 2 weeks ago to get a truck on Monday. Please call the office on Monday and a relocation specialist will check with our dispatch and let you know the soonest that we could get you a truck (Probably Wednesday if we put in a rush order). As for the storage, we could put you on our Smartbox system and store your goods at destination for as long as you wish.

I am planning a move from Denver, CO to Greenville, SC. I want to use a moving method like yours, but I will need storage in SC for several months before I can take delivery of my hosuehold goods. Does your company provide multiple month secure storage at the destination?

Steve B.

Steve,

Yes we do. Ask your relocation specialist about our "Smartbox" option. We can bring containers (like PODS, only better) to your home. You load them. We would then put them in climate controlled storage in Greenville and deliver them when you are ready. This service is not available in all areas yet, but I believe it is for both Denver and Greenville.

Movex

from Rosemary B. in NE - May 28, 2008
Do you offer storage? I am leaving Nebraska the end of June, but won't be getting into my new home until the August or September sometime.

Rosemary,

We do offer storage in many major markets by using our Movex-Smartbox division. We bring the Smartboxes to your home, you load them, we take them to the destination and store them in a climate controlled warehouse until you need them. The pricing is not available on our website. If you call 800-876-6839, you can speak to a relocation specialist that will assist you with the details. Make sure you ask them if Smartbox would be the right choice for you.

from Shannon M. in TN - May 21, 2008
Can you move belongings into a storage facility at the destination?

Shannon,

Certainly we can. You will need to make arrangements with the facility manager for us to have a place to park the moving truck while you unload. Most facilities have an area specifically for that purpose.

from Deb R. in MI - May 18, 2008
Can you store belongings before shipping for approx. 4 - 6 weeks?

Deb,

We have storage capabilities through our "Smartbox" program. However, we have limited areas of service for storage. You would need to call our office at 800-876-6839 and speak to a relocation specialist in order to assess needs and opportunities for your move.

from Rosetta L. in LA - October 17, 2007
Can my belongings be stored for awhile once loaded up on the truck?

Rosetta,

Movex can help you with a number of options for moving and storing. If you need to store your goods, we highly recommend putting them into a storage facility at your destination. The moving trucks are great for transport, but are not meant for extended storage.

Moving from Harrah, WA (98933) to Bryant, AR (72022) at the end of August. May need to store in AR. Costs for shipping and, say, one month of storage?

Joel,

One of our relocation specialists will be with you shortly to give you a guaranteed price for our moving van service. Storage is difficult since we provide door-to-door service. We suggest that you move the furniture into a self-storage at destination rather than leave it on a truck for an extended period of time.

from Robert G. in ME - July 16, 2007
We are moving from Ellsworht, ME to Salem, OR and need storage in between for 3-4 months. Moving mid October 2007. Do you go to these states and what is the cost? We have a one (1) bdrm apt.

Robert,

The good news is that we provide moving truck service to both points that you have listed. The bad news is that storage on that moving truck is not an option. You would need to either store it at origin or at destination. We can pickup and deliver from storage facilities. As for cost, you will need to fill out one of our quote forms and a relocation specialist will quickly work up a guaranteed price for you.

we plan on moving from Santa Ana, Ca. to Henderson, Nv.. we are selling our home in S.A. and need to store our stuff untill we buy in Henderson. a mounth or two. do you store and then deliver t5o new add.

Edward,

Movex provides door-to-door service on moving trucks. Unfortunately, storage does not work in our system.

If you need storage, it is better to put your goods in a climate controlled facility than to leave it on a truck for an extended period of time. Leaving your goods for a month on a moving truck would subject them to a lot of heat and could cause them to be damaged.

Can we load our stuff on a truck, but not have it delivered for 2 weeks? We are wanting to visit family in Spokane, Wa before we move to the east coast. Please let me know your policy on this. Also we should know are exact move date by next week, and then we can make more concrete reservations with your company. Thanks, Heather

Heather,

We can work with you some on your delivery. But, we do not provide storage services on the moving trucks. You don't want your entire life riding around in a truck for an extended two week period, nor do you want the moving van sitting in a parking lot somewhere unattended. We suggest shipping it to your destination and hiring a local mover to come out and unload it. You will have a much better move that way.

once our belonings arrive in TX we might need some extra days before we can unload them into the new house. will this cost us extra and if so how much?

Libby,

The best thing to do is call our office and speak to a relocation specialist about your delivery needs. While we do not provide storage, we can work with you on "when" you would like to receive your goods.

Mark,
This kind of short term storage can be a challenge. It would probably be best to speak to a relocation specialist about this request at 800-876-6839. We will need to figure out how much space you will need on the moving truck to determine how much we can extend your delivery.

Can a pod be used for storage - say for a month or two between moves between times when must move out and available time for move in?

Ann,

We can deliver you to a storage facility or we can hold your shipment for up to 10 days. Unfortunately, we don't have monthly storage available since we deliver direct to residence.

I need my furniture loaded on the 15th of Feb. but will not need delivery until the 1St of March Do you have storage?

Ruth,

We do not have storage available in the traditional sense. We do have some options to work with on when you shipment will be delivered. Please call and ask about our Exact Express service where you can extend your delivery date.

Thanks,

from Tim W. in NM - January 23, 2007
If the truck arrives at my destination before my new house is availble will you store the trailer and if so for how long.

Tim,
With some of our truck rental services, we can store your goods for up to 2 weeks. The charge for this is generally about $40 per day. Make sure that you order this in advance. If the truck arrives at the designated time and you cannot take delivery, you will need to make alternative arrangements to deliver to a local mini storage because the truck will already be scheduled to pick up another customer.
Looking forward to helping you.

from Adrienne I. in VA - January 17, 2007
I'm moving from a townhouse in VA to a house outside of Nashville and have probably 1-2 rooms worth of furniture. I want to pick up furniture at two different residences in VA, within 20 minutes of each other. Then I want to move everything to the TN location. I want to store some of the items for a month or 2 but unload at least half of the items. Is the multiple stop possible, and is storage possible?

Adrienne,
These are great questions and I am sure that the answers will be applicable to many of our customers. Because Movex drivers wait while you load and unload, we also can make extra pickups and deliveries. The charge for this is $95 per stop. No other truck rental company or self service moving company can offer this convenience! While we can provide up to 14 days of storage, I would suggest getting a self-storage unit in Tennessee. It will be cheaper and more convenient for you. Thank you for the great questions, we look forward to helping you with your move.

We are planning on moving to florida, i'm not sure exactly where were going to live, and we want to take our time finding a new home. do you store household goods? If so how much per month? If you would you be storing our items, in Florida or Colorado?

Robert,

If you are going to store your goods long term, you definitely want to put them in a mini-storage here in Florida. Your rates will be lower and you don't have to worry about the cold (unless you are putting them in climate-controlled storage in Colorado, again, expensive). Having a moving company store your goods for an extended period of time is very expensive.

The Movex Web Team

from dave U. in OH - December 31, 2006
We are planning a move to southwest fl. How long can you store our furnature, what are the charges, are you climate controlles at your storage facility?

Dave,
We provide just the transportation piece of your move. If you need long term storage, we would suggest moving to a mini-storage. I don't know about Ohio, but here in Florida there is a mini-storage every 200 yards. The rates are low and you can get climate controlled storage if you like. If you only need the shipment held for a couple of days, check with one of our representatives on Tuesday, we might be able to accommodate your request.
