Extra Pickups and Stops Questions

from Nisha H. in UT - July 24, 2008
When I finish loading the truck and am ready to leave for my destination, does the driver follow me or do they arrive seperately? Do they make other stops along the way or do they go straight to my destination?

Nisha,

The truck will arrive separately. A lot of the drivers prefer to drive at night when traffic is down. If you have ordered the entire moving truck for your use exclusively (financially, your best deal), it will not make other stops. If you are only taking part of the truck, it will make other pickups and/or deliveries with your goods on board. Remember though, the driver stays with the moving van during these stops and your furniture is in a private compartment so you don't have to worry about security.

I am moving from NJ to Arizona. I have a storage site and my home. Can the truck go to more than 1 place for pickups?

Deborah,

Absolutely! Part of the benefit of using Movex is that we are the only self-service mover that can make extra pickups and deliveries. All others require you to bring your goods to one location.

We are looking to move from Columbiana, OH to Clermont, FL. However, our final destination is split between two locations. Some of our belongings are going to a home and some to a nearby storage facility. Also, at the drop off of the home, we need to pick up items to go to the storage facility with the remainder of our stuff. Could this be done?

Kendra,

Yes. With Movex Premier service the moving truck can be moved for multiple pickups and deliveries. Contact your relocation specialist and they can help you finalize all of your arrangements.

I have gotten the quote for a move from Boca raton to Stroudsburg PA. but I have a piano in Jacksonville Fl I would like to have packed. Is it possible to have the truck stop there on their way.

Diana,

The distance from Boca to Jacksonville is what makes this complicated. If you are renting the entire moving van, we can factor this stop into the cost of the move and accommodate. If you are only taking a part of the truck, we can't help you because the extra stop could negatively affect other customers' scheduled pickups and deliveries. Check with you relocation specialist on renting the entire moving van, you might be surprised at how affordable it really is.

Is it possible to move two families at once? We live 8 miles or so apart.

Also, is Gasoline included in the quoted pricing?

Jen,

Not only can we move two families at once, we encourage it! Buying your transportation together will save you both money. The truck, fuel, driver, furniture blankets, tie-down straps, loading ramps, and a dolly are all included in our pricing.

I received a quote for a move for myself and my mother. We live in two separate cities, Sharon, PA and Willoughby, OH, about 85 miles apart. What would be the charge if we were moving on the same day to pick up at both residences for our move to Albuquerque. What would be the difference in the price if we brought our belongings to one location?

Amanda,

This is a good question that we get often. Second pickups are generally restricted to within 20 miles of the original loading address. We could do a "long-distance" extra stop, but only if you are purchasing exclusive use of the entire moving van. I always suggest that you inquire about full-truck pricing as sometimes it is very affordable and will allow you more convenience with your move.

The extra pickup in the same town is $95. The extra pickup in another town is calculated by the number of miles travelled and use of the whole moving van. Please call 800-76-6839 and one of our relocation specialists will gladly give you all of the options.

I recieved a quote from Indiana To San Antonio I live in an apartment complex and will be moving to another apartment complex. Is this going to be a problem? Will there be enough room? And adding another stop to pick up my roommates bedroom. It is only like 30 mins away.

Amanda,

You need to check with your apartment managers to see where a moving truck can be parked at either location. Most apartment complexes are built to accomodate their tenants moving in and out. The extra pickup is no problem. There is a $95 charge to reposition the moving van at your roommates place.

I got a quote for a move from AZ to NH. If I need a second stop in Az for about 25 miles from my home to load 1 large tool box will there be an additional charge

Shane,

As long as the pickup is within 25 miles, we charge $95 for the additional stop. If it is more than 25 and less than 50, we charge $175. This used to not cost so much, but fuel cost for moving vans is running almost a dollar a mile now...

I have a load of household goods in Gaithersburg MD and a 10x10 storage unit in Cordova, TN which I need moved to my new address in Las Vegas. What are the logistics for co-ordinating this move?

Elizabeth,

You would need to do this in two shipments. Routing the moving truck from MD to TN and then to Las Vegas would be cost-prohibitive because it is inefficient use of the moving van (especially with the crazy fuel prices that we are currently experiencing).

We are planning a move soon and would need to load things not just from the house but also from a near storage building. Would this be a problem? We used movex to move up here to NH and it went so smoothly. The driver was a great guy, and it was very affordable so we are looking forward to using movex with this move also. Thanks!

Candace,

Thanks for the kind words. We are looking forward to serving you again. As for the extra pickup, with Movex that is no problem. Since the drivers stay with the moving trucks during the loading process, it is our pleasure to move the truck to a second location for loading. There is a $95 fee for the second pickup. Movex is the only self-service mover that can make extra pickups!

I have belongings in two locations. Is there any way to make two stops?

Jason,

Movex is the only self-service mover that can make two stops! Since the driver stays with the moving truck while it is loaded, we can easily move to a second location for you to finish your move.

I see that you can pick up from two different residents in the same town, but can we unload at two different residents at our new location in the same town? thank you

Absolutely! Movex is the only self-service mover that can accommodate multiple pickups AND drop-offs.

Am I able to load from both my current APT and a storage facility?

Jessie,

Because we offer moving truck service and the driver is there while you load and unload, Movex is able to relocate the truck to your storage facility so that you can load from both locations easily. We are the only self-service mover in the country to provide this option.

I have 3 storage units that need to be moved to Jacksonville, Florida.

One unit is in Puyallup, Washington, and the other 2 are in Chico, California.

What is the best way to get an estimate for that type of move?
Thank you

Corrie,

You can either treat this as one move or two. If you are going to take the entire moving truck, you can treat it as one move with two extra pickups. If the loads are small, treat the Chico and Puyallup pickups as separate moves and get different moving trucks for each pickup.

The cost will depend on how much you are loading at each location. It would be in your best interest to call in and speak to one of our relocation specialists and explain the details of this move. They can help you arrange for a moving truck (or moving trucks) and work out the most competitive pricing for you.

I also want to point out that Movex is the only self-service moving company that can even offer you these options. No other company can make additional pickups in the same town, less yet in different states! We are looking forward to helping you with your move.

from Linda A. in FL - September 2, 2007
I am interested in shipping, from Wesley Chapel, FL to San Bruno, CA, a few belongings (approx. 50 or more small boxes, a 32" TV and TV stand) as well as, load from a nearby family's home (15 minutes from my home address) a sofa and ottoman along with 5 more small boxes of personal possessions. Would the additional pick up location incur an additional charge and, if so, how expensive?

Linda,

With Movex service, the driver stays with the moving truck during loading. This allows us to make an additional pickup (as long as it is in the same town). None of our competitors can offer that kind of service. The charge for an additional pickup is generally $95. You will need to speak to one of our relocation specialists to make sure that there are no surprises that we need to know about that might effect that rate.

from Shanon A. in MD - July 26, 2007
I recently got married and am moving to Louisiana from Maryland. My things are at my parents house and hers are in storage. I know I have to load but can the movers come to more than one location?

Shanon,

Part of the beauty of the Movex system is that the driver will wait while you load at one location and then can move the truck to a second location. The second pickup has to be in the same town (or very close). We can also service more than one delivery location. None of our competitors can provide that kind of service.

I am going to be moving from San Francisco to Evanston, Illinois in August. I know several other people who are planning identical moves from SF to Evanston at the same time. We all have different pickup and drop-off addresses in each city, but is there a way to reduce the cost to each of us by scheduling our moves together, for the same pickup/drop-off dates? Thank you.

Kevin,

Consolidating your move with others is a good way to save some money. A full moving truck with some minor extra pickup and delivery charges will be much more cost effective than several smaller shipments scheduled at different times. This sounds like a fairly complex move. I would call our relocation specialists at 800-876-6839 to work out the details and get the best possible price.

from Teresa B. in UT - April 7, 2007
We have half our things at the house and the rest at a large storage unit here in town. Can we load the house then have the driver go to the storage unit if we're within the 12 hours? Is there a way to secure the half-loaded contents so they are packed tight and don't tumble before we load the balance of our goods? How much does it cost if we exceed the 12 hours? How long will it take for the truck to travel from Cedar City, UT to Yakima, WA? Thank you!

Teresa,
One of the big benefits of using Movex is the opportunity for extra pickups and deliveries. Each extra stop costs $95. The moving trucks are equipped with furniture blankets, dollies, loading ramps, and tie-down straps... so securing your shipment before proceeding to the storage facility would be no problem. If you exceed your 12 hours at loading or 12 hours at unloading, the charge is $40 per hour for waiting time. We very very rarely have that charge assessed. If you think you might need more time, speak to one of our relocation specialists about paying a flat rate for a second day of loading. It should take us 2 days to get from Cedar City to Yakima.

A couple of questions. On the boxes, do they have to be regular moving boxes that you have to buy or can they be regular old boxes, because probably 90% of our stuff is already packed and in storage.

Also how do you work this if the rest of the stuff in the house needs to be packed and also the stuff that's in the storage unit about 40 miles away?

Thanks for your time

Carmen

Carmen,
Movex provides the transportation part of the moving process. Our moving trucks will gladly make an extra pickup at your storage facility ($95), but the packing of boxes needs to be completed by you or a packing service.

I just got my email notification as to the rate of a move from New Castle, Indiana to Ft Pierce, Florida. I had a question. My sis is moving too and I was going to let her put stuff in my truck, but we didn't know if once we got to Ft Pierce, if the truck could let us unload her stuff, then go to my new residence and let us unload my stuff. IS it possible to have 2 destinations, if they are close to each other? Thank you, Ronda

Ronda,

This is a great question that we have often. I have good news for you, we can certainly have multiple drop offs as well as multiple pickups. We generally only charge $95 per extra stop. If we can help you in any way, please do not hesitate to call at 800-876-6839.
